Equity in Action: From Strategy to Impact
At LRDG, we help organizations move from intention to execution. Our services are built to meet you where you are and move you forward. Whether you're redesigning your leadership model, transforming internal culture, or aligning strategy with justice, we bring clarity, capacity, and momentum.
Meet Ruby Love, our inspiring CEO and Founder.

This iconic 1962 photograph, digitally remastered and colorized, captures Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the Smith family—dedicated local activists—as he arrived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A testament to the critical role families played in the struggle for equality across the nation.
Raised in a family of political and social trailblazers, Ruby learned early what it means to stand up to adversity and to build power through entrepreneurship, fundraising, and the pursuit of justice. In the 1960s and early 1970s, her parents brought her to meetings with donors and advocates supporting the Civil Rights Movement and progressive candidates. She listened closely to how people made the case for investment, and those early “pitch rooms” shaped her fearless, values-driven approach to fundraising.
That legacy ran deep. Her parents helped launch the African American Museum of Iowa, and her grandfathers broke ground in business and in advancing policies for racial equity across Illinois and Iowa. Ruby grew up surrounded by people who did not just talk about change. They organized for it, funded it, and built institutions that could sustain it.
Ruby carried those lessons into a career that placed her at the intersection of wealth, influence, and impact. Working alongside some of the world’s most prominent individuals and companies, she supported major philanthropic investments while elevating the priorities and stories of community-based and grassroots organizations, HBCUs, the Congressional Black Caucus, and many others, helping catalyze more than $300 million in funding along the way.
Today, Ruby leads LRDG with a deep commitment to equity-centered organizational development. She partners with leaders and organizations to build the strategies, systems, and relationships that turn resources into long-term resilience.
“For me, equity isn’t a buzzword. It’s the foundation of everything I do. Over three decades, I’ve seen how traditional philanthropy can ask communities to fit into existing systems instead of reshaping systems to better serve communities. That’s why my work goes beyond raising money. I’m committed to changing who holds power in philanthropic decision-making. I believe the communities closest to the challenges are also closest to the solutions, and my practice helps Black, Indigenous, and People of Color-led organizations not only access resources, but build the tools, networks, and sustainable structures to thrive on their own terms.”
